Here are the 10 leading items identified by the group that contribute to health in the U.S.

Each item that is not present or lacking, represents a risk/threat to overall health and an increase in the chance for preventable disease that can lead to premature death:

• Physical Activity - Regular physical activity throughout life is important for maintaining a healthy body, enhancing psychological well-being, and preventing illness and disease.

• Tobacco Use  - Cigarette smoking is the single most preventable cause of disease and death in the U.S.
